  1. I just wanted to say an end-of-year thanks to the KaCSFFS Board of Directors. Tonight's Christmas Party was a totally good time. Plenty of food, plenty of great conversation, a short to-the-point business meeting, and the return of an ancient KaCSFFS tradition -- SF Charades! Yay!

Special congratulations go out to one of our newer members, Sarah Frost, who announced the publication of her first professional short story in the March ANALOG, which is on the newstands now. Check it out, and welcome yet another filthy pro to our ranks.

It's been a good year for the club. We've doubled our membership to 70 paid members. We've pretty successfully launched a fund-raising drive for our nascent podcasting group. We collected food for Harvesters Food Pantry tonight and people filled a nice-sized box with donations. We had a kick-ass panel in April on the Contributions of Kansas City Science Fiction Writers and a very enjoyable little art show for KC artists in the dead of last February's winter. And the first annual chili cook-off. And personally, I think the Writers' Workshop was a very worthwhile sucess and should be repeated.

The new membership cards are very popular. Do take advantage of the discount at Prospero's Bookstores!

We've expanded our presence on the web. The KaCSFFS Facebook page has over two hundred members. And thanks to Allison Stein, we've launched a very attractive new blog at kacsffs.blogspot.com.

Somewhere along the way there, we also pulled off another successful ConQuest. Go, team!

A lot of kudos to Diana, Cindy, Tracy and Ann for steering us through a terrific year. Thanks also to all the members who've pitch in in so many ways to rejuvenate and build KaCSFFS as we move into the club's fourth decade. We've got a great energy right now. Let's keep it going!
